.Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA SSU, commonly referred to as Sonoma State or SSU is located about 10 miles south of Santa Rosa and 45 minutes north of San Francisco. SSU offers over 65 graduate and undergraduate degree programs, minors and doctorates and it is one of the most requested campus of the California State University system, wich is affiliated with. Sonoma State also offers the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor's degree in liberal arts through classes at Napa Valley College.
Sonoma State University is known for its business, economics, nursing schools as it is for its liberal arts. The most popular schools of study by enrollment are business, psychology, and liberal arts. SSU operates on the semester system and in addition to its accreditation by the WASC, the school is also the only CA University that is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges also know as Public Ivies.
Sonoma State mascot is a Sea Wolf named Lobo and the official colors are Columbia Blue and Navy Blue. The athletic teams of SSU participate in the CCAA, within the NCAA's Division II and they are best known for basketball and soccer. But baseball and golf also won 2008 CCAA championships. Sonoma State has also cross country, tennis, water polo, volleyball and softball, a total of 13 programs for men and women. It also has a strong club sport program led by lacrosse.
Sonoma State University offers a lot of unique courses in the study of viticulture and Wine Business. Because of SSU location in the Califonia Wine Country, the school has courses in Wine Marketing and Finance, Accounting, Wine Business Strategies and Production, Human Resources Management, Operation and Distribution.
